In the security industry, we often say that the best solution isn't just a product or a service—it’s a balance. At DSI Security Services, our goal is to create tailored outcomes that blend elite security officers with cutting-edge electronic technology to meet the specific needs of each environment.
A recent challenge at an automobile manufacturing site proved exactly why this "blended" approach is the future of B2B security.
The Challenge: A Target for Vandalism
One of DSI's top clients faced a persistent problem: a large, fenced storage lot for new vehicles that had become a magnet for trespassing, theft, and vandalism. Despite having two security officers on-site, the intruders were smart. They timed their breaches to evade predictable patrol schedules or used distractions to slip into the lot elsewhere.
Standard surveillance cameras provided evidence after the fact, but they weren't stopping the crimes. Intruders were even tapping into water mains and sleeping in the vehicles. The client’s question was simple: "How do we solve this?".
The Solution: Enter ROSA
DSI’s leadership, including COO Eddie Sorrells, CPP, PSP, PCI, had been monitoring robotic security for years, waiting for the perfect application. Working with Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD), DSI identified the ROSA (Responsive Observation Security Agent) as the answer.
We strategically deployed three ROSA units on existing light poles. These "plug-and-play" devices are far more than just cameras; they feature:
High-resolution cameras with panoramic views.
Autonomous responses including flashing lights, sirens, and audio warnings.
Two-way audio that allows remote officers to speak directly to intruders.
Cellular connectivity, requiring only a power source to operate.
Results That Exceeded Expectations
The impact was immediate. While a human patrol might take 30 minutes to circle a large lot, ROSA never stops watching. In the first year following deployment, criminal incidents at the lot dropped to virtually zero.
Beyond the security benefits, the financial impact was staggering. By integrating these autonomous units, DSI was able to:
Eliminate the need for one patrolling officer position.
Save the client approximately $150,000 annually.
Enhance officer safety by allowing them to manage threats remotely via the RADSOC platform.
Delivering on Our Promise
At DSI, our motto is DWYSYWD—Do What You Say You Will Do. By thinking "outside the box," we didn't just provide a service; we delivered a superior result that strengthened our partnership with the client.
As Eddie Sorrells put it: "We told the client we could fix their problem and reduce their spending significantly. How could they afford not to try it?".
