2009 Branch of the Year and 2009 Overtime Award Winner

Jim Ingolia – Branch Manager
Jim Ingolia joined the DSI Tampa Team in March 2007 as a Security Officer and worked midnight shifts and weekends at various sites until he was assigned to a daytime shift. Jim was then promoted to Branch Manager
As Training Manager Jim responsible for all training activities for 26 Districts. Rich Hunter joined DSI Security in October 2001 as the Site Supervisor of DSI’s only cleared account in the
Tampa Bay area. In 2008 Rich was promoted to the position of Operations Manager where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Tampa Branch. Prior to coming aboard with DSI Security Services, Rich was the Security Supervisor at Valencia Community College. Subsequent to his position with Valencia Community College, Rich served in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps where he held many positions such as Chief of Criminal Investigations, Director of Training, and Patrol Supervisor. Rich holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Anne Arundel Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Criminology from The University of South Florida.

Gia Kelkboom – Payroll Coordinator
Gia holds an Associate of Science Degree in Hospitality Management from Aruba Hotel School and attended the University of Central Florida while working on her B.S. in Hospitality Management.

Out of the many accomplishments the TEAM TAMPA BRANCH has achieved, overtime control is the most glaring accomplishment. Not only for the most important reason that the savings goes to the bottom line, but because the program fosters a true TEAM SPIRIT. It starts at the administrative level and must permeate the whole Management atmosphere including the Field and Site Supervisors.

2007=Ytd figures for O.T.= $43,000
2008=ytd figures for O.T.= $22,999.40 (Jim and Rich came on board in March of this year)
2009=ytd figures for O.T.= $ 4,155.40
2010=ytd thru week of 5/12/10 =$1719.78

Listed below are two books that Jim put together that the Tampa branch utilizes for management and tracking purposes:

1. A STATS book which tracks everything of a financial nature, including the financials tracked against prior year, budgets for each year, O.T. tracking, client contract hours, lost hours, and how Tampa is measuring up. Many of these categories are measured by site so Tampa can compare the Site Supervisor results.

2. A work book with the forms used to control or foster observance of projects to protect financials such as the Safety Project, F/S route planning, Professional Appearance of Officers, DSI owned equipment on each site, and the condition of the equipment.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK TEAM TAMPA!

Introduction To Our Electronics Division

Today in Electronics there are many exciting things going on. We are expanding rapidly throughout the
southeast United States, with many of our customers represented in the form of repeat business. We are currently seeing the largest expansion in our CCTV product line. We feel this expansion is in part due to our ability to deliver a high end product with a middle of the road price tag. Our access control and automatic gate products are taking off as well. We attribute this surge in growth, despite an economic downturn, to our customer service and dedication to quality in everything that we do. For many years in the electronic security industry we have experienced competition that appeared to be satisfied with the lackluster customer service that became known as the standard. We have taken a proactive approach towards meeting the demands of our customers and our market as a whole, and our approach is beginning to pay off in terms of sales.

For the last several years there has been a trend toward a merger of sorts with the IT segment as well as
electronic security. As more and more security devices communicate across local and wide area networks there has been a greater demand for companies in our business to gravitate towards an IT mentality. We believe that we answered the call and our customers are consistently impressed with our knowledge of computer networks and our ability to create and maintain those networks. We currently work in many environments that dictate we enable devices to share information across these networks and for the vast majority these are existing networks. We also feel that we are on the cutting edge of the new technology to come, and how that technology is used and optimized. We have already begun building networks for customers that are solely dedicated to the electronic security of these facilities, and with the IP cameras beginning to flood the market we have more customers asking for these products.

We are very excited about the future and are constantly looking for ways to improve our business in a
variety of ways. Please feel free to contact us at 800-239-5720 if there is anything that we can do to help your
business.

Sincerely,
Bobby Richardson
Electronics Manager

Let's Engage Our Employees

Employee engagement can be defined as “a heightened emotional connection that an employee feels for his or her organization, that influences him or her to exert greater discretionary effort to his or her work.” There have been many studies on the benefit of employee engagement. According to a Gallup study, 54% of employees are disengaged, 17% are actively disengaged, and only 29% can be considered as engaging their time and talents. Engaged employees have been shown to willingly contribute their time, talents and abilities to the success of an organization. They not only commit to achieving a company’s goals, engaged employees often, at their own volition, extend their discretionary effort to go above and beyond their management’s acceptable performance standards.

Gallup’s research also revealed how disengaged employees adversely impact a company’s performance and profits. According to the research findings disengaged employees result in 27% more absenteeism, 31% more turnover, 51% less effective and 62% more accidents. Stephen Covey, in his book “The Speed of Trust,” indicated that these numbers conservatively cost American businesses between $250 billion and $350 billion annually.

Now for the good news. The research findings also reported that engaged employees account for 12% higher customer satisfaction scores, 18% higher productivity, 12% higher profitability and 17% higher earnings per share. How do organizations capitalize on these results? There are many drivers but the strongest of all is the performance of leaders which carries the most influence on the actions, behaviors and, ultimately, the engagement of employees.

The responsibility for engaging employees falls squarely on DSI’s Management team. Fortunately, there are a few low cost, low tech and high touch ways that our manager’s can build higher levels of engagement into DSI’s organizational culture.

• Show that you care about your employees. On a regular basis, demonstrate a sincere interest in them not only as a person but in their health and safety.
• Demonstrate genuine interest in their development. Improve engagement by demonstrating a sincere interest in your employees’ professional growth and development. Consider engaging in frequent, structured and realistic discussions about their development interests and plans.
• Recognize achievements. Simply offering genuine praise and low-cost recognition earns higher levels of engagement. Praise and recognize employees whenever their behavior or actions tie into your organization’s goals and desired results. However, make sure the recognition offered holds specific meaning for the individual.

Ultimately, you must keep in mind that our officers are DSI’s greatest assets. Their collective ideas, feedback and enthusiasm for what they do can help DSI grow and succeed. Some people are naturally wired to give their all and do their best no matter where they work. But the majority of people require the guidance of skilled managers who welcome their ideas, ask for feedback and generate enthusiasm in order to have a sense of purpose and energy about what they do.
