DSI Security Services Celebrates 40 Years in Business
In 1969 Sheriff AB Clark received a phone call that was the beginning of what would eventually become one of the most successful privately owned security firms in the country. That call seeking to hire a local private security firm for the construction of the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear plant in nearby Columbia, AL, reminded Sherriff Clark of the need for such a company in the wiregrass area. From that initial realization, Dothan Security Inc. (DSI Security Services) was born. And 40 years later, DSI has grown to be a leading national provider of a variety of security services including officers, electronics, and consulting services.
Initially DSI operated solely in Alabama, however, as its reputation for quality service spread, so did its base of operations. DSI has an impressive growth history, which currently includes 3,000 employees located in 25 states. Today, DSI is owned and operated by Alan B. Clark, AB’s son. According to Alan, DSI owes its success to having great people and clients;“Our success over the last 40 years is based upon nothing more than having a strong team of dedicated and professional employees, as well as loyal customers who have allowed us to grow with them” he commented. And unlike most large companies in their industry, DSI has remained family-owned and operated with all three of Alan’s children now actively involved with the business. Alan says that this gives him hope for the future of the company; “It is a really a milestone for me and the company to have each one of my children taking a leading role in DSI. It makes me even more confident that DSI will continue to stand for the same values it was founded upon for at least another 40 years”.
